Challenge brings change.

#girlboss - advancing your career

I’ve been following along with The Everygirl’s 30 Day Challenges since they started and I’ve been so impressed with their topics. Last month focused on social media free socializing and the month before that centered around motivated mornings. It’s like they’re peeking into my life, targeting the exact areas I could use some change. When they announced 30 Days of Advancing Your Career I nearly fell out of my seat.

One thing I’ve learned so far is that challenge brings change. I think people are generally afraid of the word change, but the end result is growth. I don’t know about you, but I could use some of that. I think this challenge is the boost I need to get hold of my focus and hone in on what I need do in order to get myself where I want to be. Not only can this challenge be applied to my career, but my blog, too! First up, learn how to use that camera. Any pointers for beginners? The contents of the box provided me instructions….in Spanish. No hablo espanol.

Will you be joining in the challenge this month? Let me know down in the comments!

Thank you to everyone who has taken the survey so far. If you haven’t already, it  takes less than two minutes and I would greatly appreciate the feedback you provide! Bring on the week πŸ™‚

YAY! I need to refocus my career completely. I actually had a meltdown this weekend about where I was at with it… I’m not happy at all and that needs to change!

  3. You’re so right that challenge brings change, and often that’s a good thing. I usually hate change, but when I’m changing for the better because I’m challenging my limits, then that’s a good thing, right? You go girl! Glad we got to see each other, if only for 2 minutes, on Friday:)

  6. Now that i’m older (and a tad bit wiser <— I can see my entire family rolling their eyes right now at that!) I feel like I’m more accepting of change, it’s just change in-between that bothers me. AKA “THE WAITING PROCESS”. I was so excited when I saw The Everygirl 30-day project but then I felt discouraged because to me, advancing your career takes money, and that’s what i’m lacking. But not to worry, because I have my next big Passion Project (relaunch my YouTube to create tutorials because taking eye selfies is a rough life).

Tips for cameras: Although I do love auto focus, my photography professor always made us shoot on manual. If you have a lense that you can adjust yourself, you can create depth of field and to me, those pictures are cool. It’s when you focus on the object and then there’s blur around it or in the background/foreground. Here’s some great tips by Shameless Maya: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rjAQl4wr6Q She has other videos you just have to search around her channel πŸ™‚ xo – Jessika http://www.jessclassy.com

I’ll have to check the challenge out! As for learning how to use the camera see if there’s any camera classes on Groupon or Living Social. The best way to learn is to get out there and shoot shoot shoot! Also check out YouTube for tutorials on your specific camera. NEVER USE THE AUTO SETTING : ) You’re better than that!

YES WE CAN! Yeah, it was bad, I actually started crying at a restaurant when I started talking about it to my boyfriend. WHOOPS! But makes it that much more obvious that I need to work hard!

  23. Loving TEG challenges! They definitely always seem to be inline with what I’ve already been trying to work on personally so it’s a nice little extra push to motivate me! Oh and the biggest tip I can say for the camera, is learn to shoot on manual. It really is quite easy and the pictures are so much better! Feel free to email me if you have questions or I can send you some of the things I used to help me learn πŸ™‚
